Hello Roosters. Congratulations to the above teams for their tremendous games on Sunday. Its not often I get time to sit and watch but this week I did make a point in doing so. Well done boys and lets see if we can repeat it this week.

This week we are again at home which is good and bad. The good is that we don’t have to travel far, the canteen gets a run and we can revel in the home team advantage. The bad is that the place is wet. Wet wet wet! Parents make sure you bring maybe a change of clothes or at least a towel to sit on the trip home, and unless you are in an official capacity please refrain from entering the field area in its entirety. It is that bad – just like a kiwi country rugby club

First Home Game Success!

High Tide Heels

Well done Roosters! The first home game of the season was a great success and I am certain all had a lot of fun. The rain held off until just after we packed up which was thoughtful, but has not stopped since. I am sure the bigger guys that play tomorrow will appreciate the soft landings as much as you did!

I thought the Mums ought to see the range of High Tide Heels still available in the shop after the 2011 floods. They might come in handy for the next mud outing at the Roosterdome! See you all at training Friday.

Training Night #1 Officially a Success!

What an excellent night we had with a massive number of Roosters, parents, brothers & sisters and even a Happy Dragon!

The first night is always the one that shows up some unplanned obstacles and while this night was no different, they were small and reasonably insignificant – unless I missed something? Last minute registrations saw a flurry of measurements and form filling while the canteen had a steady flow of hungry and hot youngsters both being good signs for season 2012.

Look for the next edition of Rooster tales for news of this weeks Friday training night and dont forget to email a committee member if there is something you would like discussed for the upcoming committee meeting.

Thank you to Corissa at St George Ashgrove for organising Happy the Dragon to visit and thank you to all the team who makes the club run as smoothly as it does.

I trust you are all looking forward to a great rugby season – especially if this rain ever stops! Well the first training session for the year is not quite a week away and already much is happening around the clubhouse. Food and drink orders are in, uniform lists compiled and ordered, training gear delivered and of course the grass still keeps growing. Business for the greater club has now officially begun.

Congratulations & Welcome New Committee

After our AGM this week we are pleased to see the return of some old (don’t take it personally Pete!) heads and welcome some new ones. We will update the committee contact email and information page shortly and maybe get some fancy headshots just so you can recognise us at the clubhouse.

Much to do this year as you will read in the newsletters but just in case you havent already joined us on Facebook, here is our Junior page.

I look forward to meeting you all at first training (Friday March 2) and if you havent signed up yet, your next opportunity is next Saturday 18th Feb. 9-12 at the clubhouse.

Thank You Committee & Roosters!

Thank you to the hardworking committee who set up and staffed the clubhouse for our sign on day. Despite the wet and often stormy weather we had a very successful day and surpassed previous years. If numbers alone are an indication of the health of a club then the current signup rate vindicates the changes made in 2011 and proves we are on track for bigger and better things. So far more than 20% of those registered early are new Roosters and returning ones after some time away.

Thanks again Committee and Roosters of 2012.

Queensland Reds Super 15 Trophy

For all our returning and new Roosters this year, on Saturday 28 (Sign-on Day) we will have on display and available for photographs, the actual Super 15 Trophy as won by our champions in 2011.

The scheduled time for it is 9am till 10 am give or take a few minutes.

Yet another reason to sign up for 2012 in person!

Clean up day a success!

Thanks everyone who came and helped out on Saturday on our first scehduled clean up day. Most of what we set out to achieve was completed and the clubhouse again looks like it should.

There are a few things to go to the dump however so if you have a trailer and half an hour spare, shoot me a message and we can get rid of it.

It looks as though we got it done in time before the rain set in too! See you all at sign-on Saturday 28th.
